‘The way things r going...i think i must change the definition of emotional and practical for sure...i certainly believe the emotional people have taken enough liberty to toy with the words and defined the approaches in their favour....

Last week I was talking to a friend who is set to get married in the near future...she was asking...'are you coming to wedding then'...I gave her reasons that it won't possible for me to attend...and she said, why are you so practical.....you should at least say yes….and I will continue to dream as if you will be coming and be happy….

I am like, what?...What’s practical in that, it’s reality....I am trying to make her life easy by telling her in advance that I can’t come….so that there will be no expectations and disappointment…as per me this is perfect emotional approach…..trying to understand other person’s emotions and not to hurt them …….

but then it dawned on me...everybody doesn’t think this way... My friend must be thinking ‘Why downright no...you should say 'i will try my best to come or something like that?...I would have waited for u...u know what, it’s fun to expect something even knowing there's a disappointment in store for me….but with a firm 'no'...u took away my right to expect and get disappointed….and deprive me of that fun...'

People love to expect...they even crave for the disappointment, pain... they expect, get disappointed...still continue to expect and get disappointed….again and again…. They enjoy that process...you cannot cut short the process at its root and decide 'not to expect at all'....so people who expect, crave for disappointment, feel pain are emotional ...and I am practical cause I believe the process, absolutely futile...

There's another myth...Kalakar ha emotional asato ….is it? mhanaje to emotions cha jastit jast vichar karat asel….tyala emotions prakat karane ( may it be kavita, lekh, gayan, chitra) uttam jamale asel….pan yacha arth to emotional aahe asa hot nahi….to halava asel, tyachya bhavana chatkan dukhavalya jat asatil…..pan he fakt to bhavanik khelatach ramalela aahe aani tyachach satat vichar karato mhanun….to aajubajuchya ghatananche manavar honare parinaam chhan tipat aselahi…..pan mala vatate to ek prakaracha abhyasu avishkar aahe….Kalakaar jevadha halava tevadhach ekhada businessmen hi halava asato…fakt te vegvegalya goshtisathi halave asatil…..

So these 'so-called' practical people don't have emotions?...that can't be true...i guess...the difference in emotional and practical people lies in the way they handle the emotions....the emotional ones are over-powered by emotions...the practical ones r in charge of theirs...practical ones control their emotions well...whereas the emotional ones make a mess of it...emotional people are those who love emotions and love to remain in that world...practical ones are the ones who know there's a world outside this world too....’

Treat them well....

''For all the book lovers out there.......if you cannot read all books from start to finish....then at least caress them with love...let them fall open where they want...read from the first sentence that arrests the eye...set them back on the shelves with your own hands...arrange them on your own plan so that you at least know where they are...some books are meant to be tasted...others to be swallowed...some to be chewed on...some books are to be read only in parts...some to be read but not curiously....some to be read wholly...with attention...but no matter what let them be your friends...at any rate...and if you can not treat them as friends....let them be your acquaintances all your life...treat them as persons''.....

Why do the religious among us hate scientific findings so much...unless it really support their own beliefs...and on the other hand why do the scientific minded among us...hate religion and God...i sometimes think...it is through the science that God shows us his most beautiful creations....

Man-woman equality a 'convenient' fact?

A few days back..I was travelling in the bus....and the TCs (they make frequent appearances these days...)....made their way into the bus...and found 4 youths travelling without ticket......who were supposedly travelling together...and they had only 2 tickets to show between them...their argument...they paid for all the 4 tickets...and got only two in return...conductor deliberately/non-deliberately forgot to give them the balance two...

Obviously no one bought their argument...they said...this is your normal trick...u travel in a bunch...sit separately...buy tickets together...and confuse us...conductor was adamant that he gave them 2 tickets 'cos he got money for only two...in the end...after a lot of arguments...they had to pay the fine of rs. 1000...now they may or may not be the culprits...but they were looked down right from the word go...it was obvious that no one was going to believe them in anyway......

Now the TCs moved ahead...and found another lady travelling without ticket...they had the same arguments with the lady..who was time and again telling them...she forgot her pass at office...not home.....and she dont hv enough money now to pay the fine...she had phoned somebody at home..and that somebody will come at the bus stop with the money..mind you...the lady was going to get down at the last stop....so after a lot of discussion between them...one of them remarked..''jane do...madam hai..'....kahan woh ek fine ke liye last stop tak jayenge...''and they let her go just like that....without fine...

Same situation...same so-called crime..and different reactions to it...if it was very annoying to see those 4 people travelling without tickets...it was equally disturbing to see the officials let that woman go...just because she was the woman?

All in your hands..

There was a Swamiji...who was so wise, that one of his disciples, wanting to prove him wrong at least once, came up with an ingenious plan. He would carry a bird in one hand, hide it with the other hand, and pop a question, “ Swamiji, I have a bird in my hand. Is it dead or alive?” If the Swamiji answered, “Dead”, he (the disciple) would open his hands and let the bird fly, proving the Swamji wrong. If the answer was “Alive”, he would crush the bird between his hands and show the dead bird, proving the Swamiji wrong again.
So, next day, he goes to the Swamiji with the bird and asks the question if the bird in his hands was dead or alive. The Swamiji, the smart guy that he was, looked him in the eye and replied, “My son, the answer is in your hands”.

Human beings...superior?

Yesterday or day before...i was working late night....and saw a bee hovering around me...the kind of bee which we think is harmful to us...so without thinking much...i killed it with one blow....and then left wondering ...we dont offer these poor creatures any chance to put up their stand....do we? I mean they may be not in the mood to harm us at all...they may be just hovering around to get some fresh air....but moment we see them...we try to destroy them lest they will hurt us....and they include everything...from bees, insects, lizards.. to stray dogs on the road...like if you see a dog nearby you...first thing you will do is pick up a stone or something....and drove him away...i mean he might not be even thinking of harming us....only because they can not tell us that in our language...we choose to do anything we want to them.... we human beings definitely misuse our so-called superiority....we only deal in our own laws...

Absent-minded to the core...

I dropped Saee to school today...on demand...so i parked Activa near the school...dropped her and came back within say 5 minutes or so....and tried to start Activa...but the key just won't go in the ignition....i tried my best to make the key work.....then some ever-enthusiastic people came to help me....i said i will manage....still they were very keen to help me out...gentlemen always around u know...so they also tried to start the bike by taking turns...

i was wondering what would have gone wrong in mere 5 minutes..when it was all fine just a few min ago.....in the meantime...there's was a guy there waiting for his bike to park so we had to remove Activa from that place...it was a hell of a job as the handle was locked.....then somebody suggested...we will dip the key in the petrol..it might work out....so now I tried to open the petrol tank...the key didn't work again...after half an hr...somebody casually mentioned to me to check whether this is the right Activa....then i checked the number...and sure it had a different number plate on it...... my bike was parked just a few meters ahead and was waiting for me ...'m sure if it could speak..it would have yelled at me for going horribly wrong not recognizing her :))

I apologized to all of course...but what i wanted to do is to laugh my heart out ...it was so funny...the look on the people's faces who tried to help me...total dumb look...a pure kodak moment which i would have loved to capture....:P...
Whats even funnier...that it will be not 'one-off' case...i just know it!!

Today when I started from home, it was overcast, dull…. I reached a big roundabout in about 10 mins….and suddenly it was bright…the roundabout, houses next to it, trees…it was like perfect picture with perfect colour combinations….it was brilliant minute or so…as if you have got your life back, you have found some special truth of life, you suddenly feel energetic, happy and what not….
I always feel these emotions in two situations…
 - Sitting dull with no plans/interest to do any work, its dull weather outside ( not an excuse to my dull mood)…then I pull myself to start some work, then get engrossed in it…and suddenly it’s bright outside…
- It’s very hot, humid outside, no wind, you are uneasy….you start gardening, watering the plants, lawn and you feel breeze J…you feel as if you have turned the weather….
I always believe the feeling enlightenment will be exactly similar to this feeling…

Believe in God...

Most of the time believers of God feel that God is looking at me…..every good or bad thing in my life is because of him….but basically it’s me in myself which is interested in imagining that importance…..Is it practically possible for God to consider each and every individual (may it be human/animal) on Earth and think about their destiny…..definitely not alone….and if he has a team of people, they might not be delivering as per his expectations or plans….anyways but every believer thinks God is with me as he feels he is important…and this feeling of self-importance is the first thing which we should achieve in our life….that might be the whole crux of believing in God…

The word 'perfect' is a myth....

Why can't we just look at a object and admire it? but no...the moment we see something great and grand in nature...instead of enjoying the moment to the fullest...u start thinking...well everything so calm and perfect here...now that cannot be true...there must be something wrong...we human beings have this nasty ability to to find wrongs in near perfect situations....

so the moment we see sunset...we do not let ourselves enjoy that spectacular view...we think..think and think...and then remember something from our own past...then associate the same with the sunset...find the connection...and get nostalgic...in the process..sunset remains just a view in front of our eyes..whereas we mentally r somewhere else...maybe even watching a sunset in the past :)....take any view...we just do the same...off we go somewhere else..sometimes in the past ...sometimes in the future...but never in that moment...

The thing 'nostalgia' is a very confusing thing in the first place...we just can not categorize it into 'good' or 'bad'....it works like a collage...a lot of emotions of either category interspersed together...but one thing is sure...definitely...most of the times it makes our life miserable...

Music is on my mind...

When someone asks me…what’s my favorite song…I always reply with ‘the one that suits my mood’…and then feel elated for giving such a smart answer for such a ever-asked question…but then at heart I know…I am not a ‘musical’ person…too much of music bores me to death…

..a few days back I was thinking about the kind of songs I prefer…the songs that you play for yourself by choice…and the songs that reach your ears out of nowhere…totally unexpected…on the road…in the train…in the bus…when somebody sitting next to us r humming some tune…playing music on their ipods or cells…then sitting in a hotel drinking a cup of coffee…and you get to listen to a song that’s playing in a café…well…I go to a café to read…so most of the times when there’s no much crowd..i ask the staff to tone down the volume to minimum…for gods sake..i want to read…can you please keep that volume down?...u see...i am not a 'musical' person....

...then why do people listen to the songs…well most of them listen to or choose to listen to songs to get their mood right…when they r upset over something…and then they say music is soothing…come to think of it..i choose to do exactly opposite…I choose songs that suit my mood and use it as a companion to go with my mood at that hour…so listening to the music doesn’t really change my mood…it helps me to cope up with it..if sad..i choose a song to go with it…and listen to it..eyes closed…never trying to come out of that mood…guess what…I use music as my company…yes…in that way…music is indeed soothing….

Survival of the fittest

Just a few days back...Saee was doing her homework...she was to name the common birds that we normally see around and paste the pictures of the same in the scrapbook....
Me: crow, pigeon...sparrow....
Saee: 'Sparrow'?? that's not a common bird....i have never seen a sparrow here....I just saw one when we went to Pimpalner!!
She refuses to accept our good old sparrow as a commonly sighted bird...which is very true these days....u hardly see a sparrow around now a days....which was used to be most
common bird in our times...next only to crow....how times change...crows have adjusted to city life well...sparrows haven't...so sadly they have to go....its survival of the fittest after all :)
